Beat The Debt Collectors!
It never fails. You are eating dinner, or sitting down to spend some quality time with friends or family and the phone rings. The person on the other end of the line does not know you personally but they act as though they do. They want you to pay money that you owe to someone else. They may threaten you, browbeat you, or outright lie to you in an attempt to convince you to pay a debt that they are paid to collect from you. They are debt collectors and you are the one to be collected.
Debt collectors use many tactics that are not considered to be moral or ethical. This does not make them bad people, but few individuals would hold them in high esteem on the average. In order to avoid dealing with such individuals it may be necessary to take a few steps to keep debt collectors out of your life altogether. The simplest step is to pay your debts on time, every time. However, this might not be an option for some people. Things happen, you may lose your job or become injured and unable to work. Any number of issues may crop up. Debt collectors do not care. They will continually contact you until the debt is paid.
In order to avoid deal with debt collectors there are two distinct strategies that may help. The first strategy will involve the aforementioned payment of debts. However, this strategy will include debt settlement negotiations and deb consolidation loans. The debt collectors will no longer have reason to contact you and you credit rating will improve drastically.
The second strategy requires the individual to enter into either bankruptcy or to acquire a DRO. Upon performing these actions debt collectors are no longer part of the equation outside of the scope of the proceedings. This is a last resort option, however. It will reflect poorly on your credit rating.
These strategies work well for removing debt collection calls and visits from your life. They are not perfect, but they do work. The calls will end, and dinner can resume in peace.
